We live in Grosseto, a small town in the south of Tuscany.
Here are lots of green areas but men pollute them by using gasoline cars and motorbikes.
Recently electric cars and electric motorbikes have been invented and in a few years they could substitute the tradition ones.
This way the recharge will cost less than gasoline and the environment will be cleaner.
We hope we will breathe an healthier air and the next generation will remember us for what we have done through several respecting planet campaigns.
Matteo and Vito!

As you may have read, some of my classmates live in Orbetello, so we wanted to tell you something about this town and how the ecology is administred.
Orbetello is famous for its lagoon, which in 1977 was appointed as humid zone of international importance, and therefore became part of Italian Protected Areas by WWF.
The Orbetello lagoon is formed by two sheets of water separated by a strip of land, where Orbetello is located. The northern part is occupied by Monte Argentario (635m). Orbetello, Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole create a large influx of tourists especially durring the summer. The lagoon is home to several rare bird species like the cormorant, the heron and valuable fish such as bass and bream eels. However, the lagoon is characterized by an exessive presence of seeweed, especially in the summer. Recently it has been put into operation a craft, that will help collect the seeweed, that has been working tirelessly since January. Ingrid and I went to these workers to ask for information on the excessive growth of seeweed. One of the fishermen said to us: ''We have just passed one of the worst situations in the past ten years due to dystrophic processes, the situation of the seeweed is severe. The weather contidions are the cause of everything, the lagoon water levels are above the average, and therefore promote the growth of seeweed out of all proportion with the sun and then generate hydrogen sulfide which is the cause of the terrible smell of sulfur. The town of Orbetello is pumping up the water, over 1000 cubic meters per day and have made available 4 boats to clean the seeweed in their own areas, but inexplicably in the areas where there is just pumping up there is more seeweed. With the winter rains it is hoped that this situation improves, we hope that it will reduce the salinity level.''

Yes, I care!

Look at the sky,

What do you see?

I see white clouds form figures that I enjoy interpreting, I feel the cool wind on my face which makes my cheeks blush and brings with it the smell of the sea, I smell the trees lose their leaves in autumn and I see the colourful carpet that they create, I feel the smell of freshly cut grass, but above all, on sunny days, I see the intense blue of the sky all around me.
Well, I'm lucky: there are people who hear, when they open the window, only the noise of cars, they smell smog, they see the blue of the sky obscured by clouds of industries gas. This is one of the privileges of living in small cities.
Of course, it’s also true that we cannot go on without industries, we need many things, and as time goes by we‘ll need many more goods.
So,how can we create a cleaner world?
In my town people do waste separation, are committed to keep streets and parks clean and experts take care of historical artefacts.
But try to go in southern Italy, where the streets are packed with rubbish, towns are ruined by negligence and indifference, the historical artefacts fall apart... and what do people do? Nothing! It seem that doesn‘t matter.
"The mosaics of Pompei are falling from the walls" "It's not my fault!"
"The sidewalks are full of junk!" "Okay, It‘s been like this for years."
"Innocent victims die because of potholed roads with no lights or because of fools who drive drunk!" "Never mind, just do not happen to me."

YES, YOU HAVE TO CARE!

Finally, is it industries and spray’s fault if there is a hole in the ozone? Is it because of the rain if the historical artefacts fall to pieces, taking away our history? Is it fault of the people who live their lives if they are killed?
No, It’s fault of people who don’t care.

Environment ( Arianna and Valeria)

Me (Valeria) and Arianna live in Grosseto, in the same area. Our area is quite green, because there is a park and a football field, but there are also many trees and many meadows.
In our neighbourhood, unfortunately, there aren't many litter on the ground, but the people sometimes leave their things (chairs, sofas, armchairs, frigos, ovens, bycicles..) next to the rubbish skips, even if they have used them just a bit.
The last week we saw next to a rubbish skip a new armchair.
We wondered why this person threw it away, we were amazed about the waste that there is sometimes.
Before we throw away something, we think about it. For example, we often write on both sides of a piece of paper.
About the environment, we try to don't pollute it. We sometimes go to somewhere on foot and, in summer, we ride bycicle. We do the waste separation, a very important thing.
Environment is around all of us, we mustn't pollute it!
